Yeah, that was my reaction at first too!

But, it's comforting when you realize they're only wearing a very dark gray, especially when you compare them with other Rockets.

Those costumes are fucking ugly, that's why

I've been hoping to see them in black ever since we saw those grunts in the SS Anne episode. Which was some ten years ago.

Damn, that's what I get for drifting out of the fandom ♥

It looks weird, but it makes sense to me since... doesn't Team Rocket wear black in the games? I always thought it was weird that they dressed in white in the show.

But so many years of seeing them in one color certainly does make this jarring. And it looks like it is literally just a pallette swap, and not any sort of radical redesign of their outfits.

I don't get the outrage.

All other Rockets in the series wear black, except for the silver agents Bashou/Hun, Buson/Atilla, and Tatsumi/Tyson.

Kojiro/James and Musashi/Jessie were unique with their custom-made white uniforms that reflected their nature as free spirits, even within their own organization. So, I could understand the outrage, but their uniforms are actually of a lighter tone than the black uniforms worn by other Rockets, so they're still lighter. ^^;;

It is a redesign, but it doesn't show in that tiny picture. Their eyes are drawn differently and the shading is that more modernized "halo" shape rather than the streaks they used to be. It's all to update the art style, which looks very old by today's standard. ^^;;

TL;DR: The white uniforms made them unique even among anime Rockets. They're still wearing different shades, but now closer to the norm. I am a Rocket fan who talks too much. >x<;

I think they wore white in the show because it was just those two being eccentric, and the rest of the Team Rocket members (though they rarely showed up) did wear the normal black.

I guess they are doing it becuase it's Pokemon Black and White and team rocket has been wearing white for so long?

I'm torn actually. I like the black uniforms but the white was what we grew up with and it made them stad out.

Woah don't knock the costumes man. It must have taken them a whole 15 minutes to photoshop the costumes from white to black.

Technically they also redrew the eyes and changed the style of shading on the hair to suit the more modernized (but still mostly very oldschool) art style they're using for the Best Wishes! anime.

The picture's just too tiny to show those details well enough. xD;

I don't mind... Maybe they'll even stop being relegated to comic relief all the time. I'm actually hoping the Black/White season has more changes to what the series typically offers.

Isn't black the traditional Rocket color though? I love this trio, but maybe it's because of the games that I don't mind much. Hmm.
