She looks about my size or even a bit bigger, which, in the U.S. is probably a juniors size 11 or 13 and womens 8-12 ... all of which are considered "plus size" even though I think it's ridiculous that they are.

But since women, especially in the spot light, are "fat" if they're bigger than a zero or two, she's a hell of a lot closer to average than your usual famous girl.

... oh dude so apparently she's five feet tall? So probably smaller than I said, yeah, but she's certainly not slender.

woah where i am a 13 is not plus size, 14+ is. the plus size stores don't sell any sizes under 14.

and i'm a 13, but i'm 5'6''.

Yeah, you're right ... I was thinking of plus size models, I guess? Which is still sort of applicable ... Snooki definitely looks big to eyes conditioned by that kind of thinking controlling the media.

I can kindasorta squeeze into a 6 if I try really hard, and I'm just two inches taller and a lot skinnier than her. She's at least an 8, or a 10. Still not fat, but by today's standards a 6 IS fat, even for taller women. Aside from having a large chest, she's nowhere near the ideal body type.

Sorry, but as someone who actually wears plus sizes, I don't understand why people feel the need to act like slim women are not slim, ~but we love them anyway~. Snooki and Christina Hendricks in particular.

I don't think anyone is saying she's fat and ugly, only debating your point that she is the IDEAL. Because she really isn't, when society's ideal is a skinny-ass 6'0" pale perfect model. But nobody is.

That doesn't make her necessarily disgusting or anything.

Yeah, this is exactly what I was saying. I don't think she's fat, I even said that in my comment. Fake tan aside, I think she's gorgeous. But to a lot of people, even those who know the media's standards of beauty are insane, she's not.

I said right in my comment that I don't agree with society's "If you're over a size 0 you are fat" thing. But a whole lot of "average folks" do take the ideas of fashion photographers to heart.

That's how we end up with the whole slim-women-aren't-slim bullcrap, which is what OP was probably talking about when mentioning the ideal body type.

Didn't mean to ruffle any feathers, I was just trying to bring up that for a lot of people, average isn't ideal. It should be, but it isn't.

I suppose that as someone who is way farther from the ideal than Snooki, I find it a little silly to suggest that Snooki's being transgressive and brave by daring to go out in public in a bathing suit. But perhaps I'm not being sympathetic enough to the body issues that average-to-slender women face.

I never said she was being transgressive or brave. I'm just pointing out that because of the way society thinks women should look, an average-looking girl like her not caring about her weight is a surprise for some people. Especially since she's a celebrity.

I haven't seen much of anything about her, but from OP's secret it sounds like she doesn't care too much.

...Annnd now I looked up "snooki weight" and found an article saying she does want to lose weight. But it's just 10 lbs, which is ok-ish I guess. Or so I thought until it said she's on some kind of diet that involves one meal a day and some cookies. I'm not sure what the logic is behind that at all :(

Nobody is saying this. Snooki doesn't give a shit about what people think of her. She says something dumb? Whatever. She can't get into a club? She dances on the boardwalk alone. She knows gossip mags and tv shows make fun of her looks but she's still out there on the beach, tanning, being ridiculous, etc. OP is taking inspiration from this attitude. OP never said Snooki was fat, it's that Snooki is a famous person with a non-ideal body and this is encouraging.

I'm pretty sure almost all women have some sort of body issue. OP found a positive way to get over hers. idk, why are we telling her Sorry, Snooki isn't transgressive enough, find another inspiration?
