It'd be the less offensive of the two options.

Because I've seen waaaay too much "I want to be a gay boy so the other hawt bishi gay boys would sleep with me"- it makes me want to choke something. THOSE people (the ones who are the extremist, self-hating/misogynist variety of slash/yaoi fangirl) are out-of-touch with reality. Transsexualism doesn't work that way, and neither does the real-life gay/bi male community.

I'm not sure "sleeping with a trans person would somehow contradict my identity as straight" is much less offensive than that, tbh. I'd say it's a pretty close race.

I agree with the last person who replied, it is a pretty close race.

And I do not think "curious about my own gender identity" would be offensive in and of itself. Just perhaps under certain circumstances, like the one you described.
