this turned into a textwall I am sorry

I pretty much agree with what miss_prince further up the thread said.

I love both games, both OoT's epic scope, but I can say that I enjoy MM's story more, in a story telling way? Like, OoT is great and expansive. I love it, it was my first ever Zelda game, and made me fall in love with the series, but MM really appeals to my attraction to character-driven stories over plot or objection-driven stories.

OoT is like an old poem of a hero-- expansive, full of adventure and overcoming adversity, but at the same time still very linear in terms of plot. MM is sort of like a morbid choose your own adventure book where no matter which selection you make-- you have losses. Even when you flip back to the beginning you have to live with the memory of failure, the lose ends you failed to tie up.

I think that by playing through those same three days, I came to know the characters within Termina, and became attached to them? The game became less of a mission to save the world out of obligation to give the poem a good ending or see what happened in the game and more of a desire to save them because I cared about them.

omigosh this is becoming a text wall

TL;DR: I LIKE BOTH GAMES FOR DIFFERENT REASONS but if I had to pick between the two I would pick Majora's Mask as well.

This, totally.
At first I was going to comment like "I like OoT better but I can totally see why someone would like MM better" and then I read through the comments and I was like, who am I kidding I love them both but they're so different, how can I pick a favorite?

ditto...definitely ditto! Both games are fantastic for different reasons. I just can't pick!

This, very much! I adore both games (which is why I don't mind, OP!). I loved OOT to pieces but in terms of creative story-telling I think MM did the best job out of the series. I do wish they had elaborated more on Termina's history though, especially concerning places like Ikana Canyon.
