If it's not reciprocated then there isn't much you can do. It's not really love if you force the other person into it. If they're not interested, then they're not interested. In Scott's case, Ramona was interested in him, she just had baggage to get over.

I'm just getting this from the "one-sided love" bit. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't know, at least on my side it wasn't always one sided. OP did say her situation was into it.

She actually told me she loved me first.

My situation always feels like if Gideon had won.

I know that. The thing is that I'm not sure whether she's into it or not--we've shared so much with each other and sometimes she sort of made me think that we had something beyond friendship going on...It's just that now she has someone in her life and well it's not even that deep. But it still makes me hope.

Hope is one thing, especially if you really do have a deep connection like you say you do. Just try not to delude yourself into believing things that aren't really true, or force her into something she's not ready for. I know the waiting and uncertainty can be terribly painful, but if things go wrong you might be left with something even less than friendship instead.

If I've waited this long for her is precisely because I don't want to force her into anything, so yeah that's why I hope instead--although I think I'm slowly coming to the realization that I should move on...I like her too much to affect her life in any way with my drama.

That's a very mature way to look at it, and it's quite refreshing to hear. The topic is a bit touchy for me because of something I've experienced personally, so I suppose I expect other people in similar situations to act like the person I knew did.

But yeah, if it's becoming too difficult for either of your emotional states, it's time to move on, as hard as it sounds. You already know that, though.

And it's no problem at all. c: I hope things get brighter for you, whether that's with this person or not.
