That's not what ageism is, anyway. Ageism is mistreatment of the old, not the young.

the group with power in society is middle aged. the young literally have NO POWER, and the elderly have very little. thus, ageism is the systematic oppression of the young and of the elderly.

when i say young, i mean like under 21 or even 18 young. sorry if that was misunderstood.

The young don't have power because they literally don't have the ability to be rational or mature enough to handle the responsibility of looking after themselves. It's not a form of oppression.

That's the same logic used to justify the fact that it's still legal to hit children, when assaulting an adult who actually has the power to defend themselves would NEVER fly.

ageism: exhibit a

that doesn't mean we don't deserve to be treated like human beings. people use this same argument for disabled persons. there's a difference between supplying help and or care when necessary and treating a group like they collectively are incapable of making any decisions for themselves.

and it's just a tiny bit obvious that it's oppression when the people in power are also the ones who ~know whats best. white people know what's best for poc, men know what's best for women, able people know what's best for non-abled, middle aged people know what's best for youth and elderly... hmm...
