I agree with this (up to a certain point; OP, if you're older than 18 then you can do what you like, but you don't sound like you are). There will always be more silly conventions and things to go to, and missing one is not the end of the world.

I agree with this.

Can you not skype or exchange letters/packages (with a PO box) with the friend? There are "safer" ways to interact with people you know online, and it'd be a good way to ease up your parents to a face-to-face meeting, too.

I've had some bad experiences, tbh- people aren't always what they seem online or off, so try not to hate your parents if they're more concerned for your safety than with you meeting friends, even if those friends mean a tremendous amount to you.

Even if your parents say no anyway, you may be able to secure a visit next year or at another con in a few months, or reach any number of compromises. But try! Anything could go wrong if you try to sneak it instead, and ruining your parents' trust in you would NOT help future visits.
