You say acupuncture works. I say, prove it.

You're well within your rights to quirk an eyebrow, but to question their judgment as if they're stupid when there are plenty of drugs that were approved for use by the FDA that ended up bearing horrible side effects later on...Sorry, it's hard to find a base for your seemingly selective skepticism here.
Acupuncture works for some people. Drugs and other procedures work for some people. Neither one works for everyone, but neither form of medicine should be considered complete crap.

Very well, I agree to disagree, and I at least appreciate your civility.

I'm not saying acupuncture cures cancer or it's an all-purpose medicine. I'm saying it does what it was intended to do. Not sure about you, but I hold news articles from USA Today to be a pretty reliable source of information.
And keep in mind the majority of scientific tests were done by MDs with minimal amounts of training while skilled acupuncturists train for years. Here's a study from Harvard anyway. It could be the placebo effect at work, but if you're gonna take any bit of possible proof as a placebo effect, then there's nothing I can say about it.

I am definitely interested in reading validated studies and such ON acupuncture, because YEAH, having an alternative medicine that doesn't kill your stomach lining and actually WORKS would be... well, it would be fan-fucking-tastic and I would totally go for that over chemotherapy. The problem is, I haven't seen the evidence.
BUT, I am totally going to read that Harvard paper because it looks really interesting. And yeah, maybe it'll change my opinion! :D This is the kind of thing I'm looking for, not "well my aunt's hernia was cured by valerian root".
Never stop learning! :D

And I don't think it should be a replacement for chemotherapy, but it sounds like a pretty useful supplement to it, as far as reducing symptoms and providing relief are concerned! I've got some anecdotal personal experience with acupuncture so I'm fairly convinced it works on at least some things, but haha, I'm a pretty scientific person myself and anecdotal evidence isn't quite enough to sway me, either.
