Used to like Family Guy until it became obvious that they were just taking their jokes from the Simpsons and everything that Seth M. has ever done.

South Park is my favorite show, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it to everyone.

Here's the thing, OP. You actually have some options here. You could:

1. Grow thicker skin

This is a tough one for people on the internet, especially if they're very passionate about certain issues. Some people can't handle their viewpoints being challenged, even if it's in jest. My little minority has been poked fun at several times in popular media, but I've learned to roll with the punches and not get bent out of shape about it. And when I see other people from the same group get bent out of shape because "oh no, someone on a TV show used that word," I feel bad for them for not having a sense of humor.

But at the same time, I understand that some people might have trauma/perfectly legitimate reasons for not being able to take a joke about a particular subject, which is why I'm suggesting this option instead:

2. IGNORE THEM

Clearly, this is not an option for you, so I should feel silly for even saying this. It's painfully obvious that your friends/acquaintances are forcing you to watch these shows. There are toothpicks in your eyelids and handcuffs around your wrists and everything. It's quite horrific, really. The idea that you could ignore these two shows and simply tell people that you don't care for them if they try to talk to you about them is so unreasonable, right?

Wait, it is perfectly reasonable.

I mean, Jesus Christ, I'm offended by Justin Bieber's very existence, but if he comes on the radio or someone starts talking about him, I just tune it out. (And make passive aggressive statements about it as an ending anecdote in an overly lengthy F!S response.)

And despite what you might've gotten, I think you're perfectly reasonable, OP, just wanted to really get the point across that nobody can make you watch anything you don't want to watch. (Keep that in mind when the coworker wants to show you that zit popping video on YouTube.)

Actually, I've been ignoring them for a while. I was exposed to South Park at a meeting for a club that I left shortly thereafter (though I didn't leave just because they were watching South Park).
