*nods* Thank you for the clarification.

But how was he to know that the pain and numbness in his leg (a common symptom of pinched nerves/back problems) was anything worse? How does someone know that a common symptom like numbness heralds a more severe condition rather than a more common one? How do we even know that the doctor wouldn't have sent him to the exact same treatments?

As I mentioned above, my brother went to see his doctor for pain in his back that was debilitating enough that he could not work. It was that same doctor who sent him to chiropractic treatment and PT for six months before the lack of improvement finally started the tests that discovered his cancer.

Now, to your point, there is a chiropractor near me who I actively cannot stand. He fans people's fear of traditional medicine by posting messages outside his office that point out side-effects and risks of medications in the most inflammatory way, and often without context. ("Dyes in MRI turn skin to marble.") Alternative care that isn't willing to work hand in hand with real doctors is an active threat to people's health and welfare.

This 1000%. An honest, legit Alternative Care specialist would never try to wage war on mainstream medicine because that is not putting the client's best interests at heart.
