Yeah, no. I didn't want "more answers" (actually, I could've done without Jacob explaining his idea of Island Bachelorette three times to three different people), and I had longe since abandoned the hope for a science mindfuck. What I did want, though, was a suspense-filled, gripping finale, and I don't feel as if that's what I got. Instead I got Desmond fumbling around with an unspecified prop in what looked like a defunct Disney ride, copious amounts of hugging and learning, and Clare giving birth to that baby on-screen for the third time. (Seriously. The first time was touching, the second time was kinda poignant, but the third time was "C'mon, again with the baby?!") Not to mention the anticlimactic way the bad guy went down. And "glowy cave of ~*~everything~*~" is only notches above "amulet containing ~*~love~*~" or "magic box full of ~*~wisdom~*~" on the totem pole of annoying MacGuffins. That's just weak writing, man. (Can you tell I was really dissatisfied with the last season?)

In my opinion, the character stuff was never the strongest stuff on Lost. (Sayid pining for Nadia? Washed-up rock star battling addiction? Jack bawwwing about his dad? "I don't do Taco Night"?!) Great character reveals like Locke having been in a wheelchair or Desmond being down in the hatch were so great partly because they were tied to the island stuff. I did in no way expect Lost to be hard sci fi, or even proper sci fi, but man, I didn't hallucinate this show being cool at some point, did I?

Yes, I can tell you were very dissatisfied with the last season.
And excuse me while I disagree. Greater character reveals were things that tied the characters closer together, like Jack and Claire being related or John's father being Mr Sawyer, or Penny being Desmond's constant. Daniel's mother killing him, Alex being Danielle's daughter, Boone being in love with his sister.
Those are all far better and greater than Desmond being in the hatch.

Hey, that's cool. I mean, there's many different reasons to watch a show, and Lost will always be a show I love, even though I'd probably discount the sixth season. A lot of the emotional stuff didn't really resonate with me - Claire being Jack's sister for example didn't really have that much of an emotional payoff imho (seriously, they never did anything with that), and I couldn't bring myself to care about Shannon and Boone as characters at any point. I'll admit Alex was also a little too sketchy as a character for me to care too much about her; and then she got killed when things were getting somewhere. I'll admit that Locke's dad being Sawyer and the Daniel storyline were awesome, though. But for instance, the Desmond and Penny relationship, which was lovely up to that point, was really ruined for me by the awkward "You don't know me but we should totes be in love!"-finageling in the last season. As was Sawyer's and Juliet's reunion, for example, as soon as it was clear that it happened on some sort of metaphysical astral plane. I also had trouble caring about the finale because I couldn't possibly root for Jacob's side, he was such a weak, unconvincing character. But I know all that's probably highly subjective.

My issue with the last season was that I feel it had a lot of convoluted, shoddy writing, more than Lost usually had, anyway. But I'm totally fine with people enjoying it. A lot of my friends were thoroughly pleased with the finale, and why not. I guess I'm just tired of this smug attitude that everyone who complains either didn't 'get it' or was too hung up about the 'omg answers!!?!'. There's a lot of legit complains you could come up with.

I still really like Lost for all the awesome moments it delivered. But yeah, I fucking hated the ending, I can't help it.
