I know, however I own the comics, and several doujin which are printed in Japanese. :/
Germany commonly refers to Prussia as Niisan (兄さん) thus where I get it.

I ignored TVD for its first season because I thought it was just CW's effort to hop on the vampire bandwagon. But because I've heard so many people singing its praises (and because Ian Somerhalder is ridiculously pretty), I recently decided to give it a try and not only am I pleasantly surprised, I'm definitely hooked. And you know why? Writing and acting that are actually good. The writers actually care about things like plot and characterization, which is more than could be said about even True Blood at this point.

I should have noted this in the secret, but it's due to the Japanese doujin I own / have scans of.

It has been YEARS since I've seen Ever After, so long I had to look up his IMDB to remember what movie that was from, but I saw this secret and remember being attracted to him in that movie! And I saw it when I was like, 11.

What does he do again? He tries to buy her and creepily comes onto her, right? I just remember thinking about how I knew I was supposed to find his advances gross and wrong but feeling totally the opposite and thinking I wanted to see that. Haha.

Maybe upon rewatch I'll feel differently, but I definitely felt that way once upon a time...

Firstly; http://i56.tinypic.com/2hs6lv5.jpg This is why they're speaking Japanese. Most of the 'Germancest' pictures, doujin, etc, I have is made by a Japanese artist, thus why I'm getting it.

Secondly; it's more about the appearance of the word than sound. I get slighty dyslexic like that. >>;
Though they do sound similar imo. It could be my accent, I am not American, as the majority of the people I find online to be.

So it seems I've created a bit of confusion here, resulting in the 'Why are they speaking Japanese anyway?' Comments.

The reason they would be speaking Japanese is that the majority of my art for this pairing, as well as the entirety of the doujin I have, are from Japanese artist, thus, the entirety of their conversations are in Japanese.

But the idea that the X-men fandom is complaining about January Jones baffles me. I think she's a wonderful actress, and I really can't think of anyone else who looks that much like Emma Frost.

Vampire Diaries is an amazing show! I didn't give it a chance at first, either. The summary I'd read made it sound like a Twilight copy. But then a friend blogged about Damon and I'm a sucker for well-developed evil vampires, so I gave it a chance, after all. I'm very glad I did!

The romance is the plot that interests me the least, actually. I'm into it for the excellent human characters and Damon being delightfully evil. I love that their characters are so flawed and broken, that the writers aren't afraid to hurt them time and again - and, though I hate them for it at the same time, for not being afraid to make you love characters only to kill them. No heroic deaths for them, either, which makes them all the more painful to watch.

That's from the 20th volume which was released last year, how is it still a spoiler?

I am very dubious about your desire to equate two superficially similar words, but have at. You know, since rice is like lice. Schon is like schoen. してる is like 知ってる. ...except that they're completely different sounds, which has nothing to do with an American accent at all and everything to do with a native speaker's accent.

Although I suppose it's not your fault if you can't hear the difference. Sometimes people just can't tell. Good luck with any language studies in the future, though!

I wouldn't say she's polarizing. I haven't come across any fans who hate her. There are just some that love her and some that like her fine. She can come across as physically weak, but only because she's a normal girl surrounded by a cast of super-powered vampires and witches. But I have never heard anyone call her weak-willed. She has a lot of strength and determination. Unlike Bella, she never starts to ask like her friends and family are a burden, now that she has a vampire boyfriend. People often go to her for advice because she is so level-headed and reasonable.

Also important, her relationship with Stefan (nice-guy vampire) is so much more healthy than the dysfunctional Bella-Edward mess. Stefan always rises above petty jealousy and he makes a real effort to get to know her friends and family. He also treats her like an EQUAL. Whenever they're dealing with some vampire-monster crisis, he and she always discuss what they're going to do together. It's not a show about him running around and saving her from danger.

So, yeah, you should watch it. I highly recommend.

Mm, it's not so much about pronunciation, it's more the similarity in spelling I'm getting at. For example.. I'll glance at a Nissan logo, but my mind will tell me I see 'Niisan', if you understand what I'm getting at.
The split second where the mind confuses one word for another, if that works as a description...?
