As a heads up:

"I just got this message when I went on tinypic from my location in Germany.

Tinypic is no longer accepting uploads from international locations, and links are turned off. If you have content on Tinypic, you can still view the URLs and the content, but only on Tinypic. To upload, share, or link content, please go to Photobucket.com to register an account. You will need to upload your content again to your Photobucket account, but you will be able to share and link your images and videos. We’re sorry for the inconvenience and hope that you enjoy Photobucket, our premier image and video site

Upon clicking for more information:

Tinypic International is changing. Beginning September 23rd, you will no longer be able to upload content to Tinypic and your links will be turned off. Please begin using Photobucket to upload, share and link your images and videos."

This is probably the reason so many tinypic secrets are messing up.

What a bunch of bullshit. I live in the US, but I'm quitting photobucket and not using tinypic anymore.

Anyone know any good image sites where I can have my own albums/folders like PB? It'd be awesome if NSFW stuff was allowed too (porn/hentai, gorey pictures, no cp), lol

[identity profile] miss-yuka.livejournal.com 2010-09-23 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I use mynetimages.com but it doesn't allow NSFW stuff. This site (http://www.free-webhosts.com/free-image-hosting.php) is great to find and compare sites though.

Has anyone tried a proxy?

[identity profile] kuromitsu.livejournal.com 2010-09-23 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I tried some webproxys). Some of them work, most don't.

[identity profile] katplayer.livejournal.com 2010-09-23 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Does anyone know how Tinypic is tracing its users? I apparently live in a proxy range and sites like Hulu pop up with "hurr durr tern of yer anonymizah lol" despite me never using one. I've gotten the same message once on YouTube, so it's not just one site mistracing my IP.

(Anonymous) 2010-09-23 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
If anyone outside of USA will not be able to even see the images uploaded, do they really think that people who want their images to be seen, will upload there anymore?

Please someone tell me I misunderstood something, this just seems so ridiculous.

[identity profile] hilsongirl.livejournal.com 2010-09-23 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
they dont care about people outside the US, obviously.

(Anonymous) 2010-09-23 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Argh! In the last week I just submitted something like 10 secrets to clean my folder out, and now THIS happens.
Does that means we have to upload and submit them all over again? I feel like such a spammer D: D:

[identity profile] malstroem.livejournal.com 2010-09-23 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Here's a quick tip, Tinypic: Doing this won't make people want to go to Photobucket and get a paid account. It makes people want to shun you forever and go find some other service that doesn't behave like a dick.

with hotspot shield it works perfectly. I can upload and I can see.
(italian here)
obviously I'm not going to use it anymore or use photobucket

[identity profile] gingeynary.livejournal.com 2010-09-23 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
This is stupid. I live in the US so I can still use it, but what's the point of posting images the rest of the world can't even see? I don't like imageshack or photobucket, but...:| Guess I'll have to adjust and use imageshack.

[identity profile] flutingfrenzy.livejournal.com 2010-09-23 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
This is really gonna suck for new FS members who want to do an archive binge. Or even just read the last few weeks to get an idea of the community norms.

That "sorry for the inconvenience" message makes me rage.

[identity profile] hermione-vader.livejournal.com 2010-09-24 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
So users in the U. S. can still use tinypic? I hope so, because I don't know what else I'd use.

one of the 2837432 other services that host pics for free? Gosh, your choices are so limited :/

So are tinypic secrets going to be banned? Because there's no idea in coming here anymore if half of the secrets are going to be unavailable, just saying.

[identity profile] fencer-x.livejournal.com 2010-09-24 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
This is what should happen :/ And just ask everyone who submitted in the past week or so to resubmit, I guess.

I'll third imgur.com. They pretty much have unlimited bandwidth for every pic, randomize the names and you can even create an account to keep track of your pics.

[identity profile] 143hanbaobao.livejournal.com 2010-09-24 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
because of this, i have to re-uplaod ALL of the pictures i used for my customized mood theme.
way to go tinypic. t(-___-)t
you just messed up my LJ. hrr.

[identity profile] gabzillaz.livejournal.com 2010-09-24 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
Damn you, tinypic :(

I haven't checked secrets for weeks because of this.

Ban Tinypic plz

(Anonymous) 2010-09-24 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
Can there please be a new rule that bans Tinypic secrets then? I'm tired of not seeing most of the secrets. :(

Re: Ban Tinypic plz

(Anonymous) 2010-09-24 07:56 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed. Ban it please.

I'm not in an affected country, but why the hell am I going to upload my pics if a good proportion of my target audience won't be able to see them?

[identity profile] tee-sama.livejournal.com 2010-09-24 08:10 am (UTC)(link)
I'm in Czech republic and can see the pictures just fine. And for some reason I can upload too? I couldn't yesterday. That's probably error...

[identity profile] tee-sama.livejournal.com 2010-09-24 08:12 am (UTC)(link)
"On Sept 23, 2010 Tinypic announced without warning that they are no longer accepting uploads from "international locations" (i.e. locations outside of the USA) and that all links are turned off. A reason for this has not been provided. However, the services appear to have been restored to their former state, again without explanation." ~Wikipedia

So I'm not alone, huh.

I'm from Germany and can see the tinypic secrets again, too.

Let's hope they've come to their senses. It would be a shame to lose all the old secrets.

Same here, I can even upload stuff to my account again.

TINYPIC IMAGES WORKING AGAIN in GERMANY and HK

[identity profile] ook.livejournal.com 2010-09-24 09:59 am (UTC)(link)
Hey Technophile. I got reports just a while ago that Tinypic images are now working again for people located in Germany and Hong Kong.

You might want to do some archiving of stuff since the images might disappear again.

Late to the party.....I replied somewhere explaining that my friend's boyfriend works at Photobucket. Posting anon because LORD FORBID PB find out who I am and fire my friend's boyfriend...and because I don't own an LJ but I love F!S.

PB's been a stupid bitch because they lost A LOT of money in the previous two/three years. Some advertisers stopped working with PB because they searched around and found "offensive" content that the PB mods missed. It happened with a couple small advertisers, which wasn't huge, but then a major advertiser found "tub girl" (never saw the photo but my friend and her boyfriend explained it to me and yeah.....GROSS) and from there they started making major cuts.

I can only guess the Tinypic thing was PB trying to make more cuts from their costs. I haven't talked to my friend and her boyfriend for a couple weeks so I'm not completely up to date on it, but if I hear anything I'll be....posting anonymously. Let's hope PB get it together and stop fucking with us. I like loading my secrets on TP.

Even later to the party, but Photobucket might do a bit better if they didn't fuck their users around. The facebook crap was the last straw for me. I lost all the comments I had on my images, with no way to get them back that I can see and I also get a lot less comments than I used to because people hate the commenting system and won't use it.

Tinypic being owned by Photobucket explains a lot and I don't trust them not to do this again in the future so I'm looking for a new image hosting service. Imgur looks OK, but I'm keeping my options open.

tinypic says JK LOL WE DON GOOFD

We heard from many of our users in regards to these changes and we appreciate your feedback. Tinypic has restored linking to your images and enabled uploading. Please rest assured no content was removed from the site. We tried to notify users on Tinypic and requested they move their content to Photobucket. Unfortunately this messaging was insufficient and has taken many of our users by surprise and we apologize. Our intent was to begin combining some of the best features of Tinypic and Photobucket, thereby offering users a better experience. Any changes in the future will be better communicated. Once again, we apologize for the inconvenience.

(Anonymous) 2010-09-25 01:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm steering clear of Tinypic from now on. And Photobucket too, since it's run by the same company. I don't trust them anymore. Who's to say that they won't pull a stupid stunt like this again in the future?
