The male body is shaped very differently from the female body; clothes are usually made to fit one or the other. Male clothes can look very unflattering on the female form, because of the different curves. That doesn't mean you can't put together a cool outfit inspired by a man's style but tailored for a woman, though. Good luck.

Good luck indeed!

Its very hard to find female tailored male equivalent awesomness. I am having a hard time, which is just heightened by my hatered of going store to store and getting nothing.

Not fandom related story. Back in the spring when I was preparing for a job interview. I had my suit and white blouse all ready but I had no friggin shoes - the selection varied from flats (I cant wear flats they look silly, but most of all they squeezy my toes into an ouchie), or high heels. nothing in between, maybe one shoe in some store which looked like a teacher might wear this.

Look at the male section - they have nice shoes - such a big selection. middle heel, comfrotable. But being such a girly girl that I am I look like a clown in one of those, because they are made for men..

As an example.

Lol. It's a fact that women's shoe styles VASTLY outnumber men's shoe styles. You're going about this entirely wrong.

And frankly, if you can't suck it up in heels for one day for a job interview, you're being way too picky about what you wear.

OP

(Anonymous) 2010-09-25 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
Why would I want to throw away money for a one time thing? good shoes cost good money. And then I'll have to go about this entire process again if I need to attend any more meetings?

That's bullshit!

Its always about sucking it up when it comes to women's attire, or so it seems. Women's stuff in general, actually.

I rather have lesser selection but more things I would wear. Our selection is a million of high heels, half a million of flats, and 1-2 other types...
I look silly in high heels, as do plenty of women. Not to mention its uncomfrotable... And it makes me feel like people take me less seriously. High heels are more of an evening dress type of thing. I feel weird wearing them to an office or to talk to the boss.

And if after work I want to spontaniously take a walk? its limiting footwear.

I am not so picky about what I wear, but I am picky about my finances. And buying shoes I dont like to distract me during interview and make me feel silly? not good investment. How is this related, btw? Most fun characters in vid games are male and dont wear high heels anyways.

If it was a female, and I liked her, maybe I would, but then again badass female character kicking ass in high heels? fun but so iffy I cant seriously fangirl.

"And if after work I want to spontaneously take a walk?"

Solution: bring running shoes. : /

Whats wrong with just wearing good shoes from the start of the day? like everyone else does?

There are good reasons to dislike high heels in general. But complicating life just to be rewarded with being uncomfrotable and looking silly? makes little sense to me.

Nothing. You presented an issue and I gave you a possible solution. If you don't like heels wear flats. If you don't like flats wear kitten heels. Regardless you can't wear running shoes to an interview in an office environmen nor can you wear them every day at work whether you like it or not so deal with it.

If you get money from the job you got interviewed for you're getting rewarded with money. As for me heels don't complicate my life at all. I can walk in them and I don't think I look silly.

As I said before I find it frustrating that things for girls either involve you sucking it up, its limiting you in some way, or you are doing it just to be compensated later somehow.

high heels are not an issue to me, I dont like I dont wear. Issue is lack of variety in good alternatives.

Guys have it easy. But shoe - wear shoe, from work ro an outing with a friend. And its comfrotable.

the reward of money is not from wearing a high heel. the reward came from preparation. the reward of wearing high heel is very negative for me. I cant stand it.

I find it frustrating too but especially in an environment like an office where much of my day will be spent sitting at a desk I don't care because I won't be walking around a lot. I work in fast food at the moment which means I wear nonslip running shoes. My feet hurt just as bad at the end of the day as someone who wears heels for their job. They don't "look cool" or anything-I'm there to work not look good. Bottom line I like money and in the long run I personally am not bothered by it. Wear flats. Wear a low heel or a wedge until society decides that a woman's effectiveness is not directly connected to her choice of footwear.

This is so much bullshit. I have broad shoulders that don't fit into shirts tailored for women. Also, my breasts are too big to wear button-up shirts made for women. So, since I can't afford a tailor, or to get all of my clothes altered (thrift stores are what I can afford), I wear men's button-up shirts. Guess what? THEY ACTUALLY FUCKING FIT ME.

And my youngest sister has to wear men's shoes because her feet are too wide :/

(Anonymous) 2010-09-25 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
Seems the bullshit is bi-directional.

Women's button-up blouses which I wear often to work because the men's are silly on me usually emphasize the tit area (jsut have lines around it or are more open), which i am lacking in and it either falls too open for me and i have to sew it slightly shut every friggin time or just looks bad.

Mostly because where other women would get the sexy tit crack "ovo" I just get flat skin ")(". woe.

So many chest emphesizing shirts and tank tops and I dont know what, in all shape and sizes, and I just want something normal. Jacobs is excellent store for that. I love them so much. straight out blouses around a female form with no bullshit and shoulders that fit. but flatish for big tits though. mine are pushing against it as it is.

(Anonymous) 2010-09-25 09:07 am (UTC)(link)
I have the same problem with shirts - a lot of female shirts are tailored for having, y'know, boobs and I'm very on the flat side, so it just hangs out like open air. And looking for a jacket, I don't like how they fit them to a woman's curves but the men's smalls are still too large even if I like them unfitted. :(

Obviously they're not tailored for women with breasts if I have tits and I can't wear the fucking things. I guess maybe they're all tailored for women with a really specific cup size that nobody has.

Pretty much every piece of clothing I try on that's "tailored for women" doesn't fit my curvature.
