This, so much.

A lot of people are not getting this secret. It's not about wanting to be all those things the OP listed; it's that people assume that women are, by nature, not any of those things, ever. If a female character acts irresponsibly, or is rude to someone for no apparent reason, or is *gasp!* messy, people will judge her- not because it was the wrong thing to do, but because 'women don't do that! They're physically perfect and in control all the time!'. Women can smell bad and be sloppy; it's not nice, but it's not something that should be treated as a myth either. The emotionally challenged part is specially true: female characters can be unconfident, insecure and make wrong choices, which doesn't mean they're an affront to feminism, it means they're characters.

I hope Toph continued to rock on well after her youth.

I got that, but what the fuck is this shit:

That has nothing to do with gender, at all. People comb their hair and bathe because that's what society expects out of all genders.

The OP isn't saying that it only applies to women. She's saying the reason she's posting it as a secret is because she doesn't want the world to know she's a huge slob and she doesn't want the world to know that if she could get away with it, she'd sit around in jammies all day and never bathe or brush her hair.

I would too, if it was entirely up to me-- I would probably bathe because my hair is super greasy and gets gross, but I wouldn't really brush my hair or dress in anything other than sweat pants and really ratty t-shirts if I didn't have to. I'm one of those people you see in snoopy pajama pants at the grocery store.:P I just have considerably less shame than OP.
