(Anonymous) 2010-09-25 01:15 pm (UTC)(link)i think as long as you admit to yourself you're new and don't pretend to yourself that you should know everything and hold yourself to unreasonable demands of canon knowledge, you'll be okay
there's literally 7 decades of superman/dc history. and then most of it got retconned in crisis on infinite earths in 1985. and then tons of other crap happened after that.
us comic book canon is one of the most complex collaboratively-created shared universes ever. i've been in comics fandom on and off since i was a kid, and since i'm in an off period right now, i've missed out on tons of stuff that's happened in recent years, like grant morrison's "52" run. idek what's going on there, too complicated.
