so where the hell do you live, OP? Unisex fashion has been in, like, years. The trainers/jeans/t-shirt combo is classic. Most gals I know manage to look gorgeous without heels or obmoxious tops or excessive make-up. But this is probably due to the fact they are actually nice to people to people, and I somehow doubt that's your case, given your general attitude. No offence. I've been there too, believe me. Seriously, as long as you're pleasant to be with, people won't give two shits about what are you wearing (unless you're still in high school?).

And speaking as a fellow fan of NMH, I always loved Sylvia :c She's so wonderfully sociopathic I just can't help it. But I also like Bayonetta, so I guess I just like camp?

And if you're looking for some great female characters, check out Megaten series. That is, you know, if you actually care about ttheir personalities and are willing to look past the fact the look like average women ( i.e. no amping of sex appeal or anything like that).

I guess my general assholish attitude came about from being defensive. I mean the first comment here called me sexist and then called my choice of games shit. I was taken aback. I thought those games were good and I dont feel sexist, I am just making a general observation about my fandom and confessing on how that makes me, personally as a girl, feel.

This isnt about looking gorgeous in whatever I wear and my personality. This is actually just fandom related... being a nice person to other people isnt really helping me out in wearing character inspired clothing and looking good in it too, you know?

The rest of the responses were just 'shes a great female character but you dont pay attention to her therefore you just dismissing all female charaacters'. But at the same time I dont care for a lot of freat male characters either. Why must I care for every great female character? I never said there were none at all. I dont see how that makes me ignore everyone if they are female. I felt like I am not getting what I mean across and I guess that made me sound like a jerk in my responses. I dont have to embrace every male character, and I dont have to embrace every female. And sad thing the majority of males are better than the females in vid games.

I enjoyed Sylvia and the killers too. But they def fall into the catagory of bra and panties, which is part of the frustration as I said in the secret. Just want a girl travis touchdown sort of character. why everyone must wear mini skirt and the such? and whats wrong with cussing?

Jill valentine got ruined in the latest one for me. Gone the way typically girl characters go.
I loved her a lot in previous games; its been long time ago but leon got iconic scenes such as the throne scene or the laser avoiding jumps. I cant recall iconic jill valentine scenes unique to her. but its been awhile so thats also not fair.

I live in North America, yeah jeans and tshirts(people dress here a bit uglier than they do in Europe, but ironically Europe has better unisex selection) But other than that I didnt see the stores being big on the unisex thing, honestly. There are plenty of clothing types which are hard to find unisex or for women, and that dont suck/

Oh, so I must've misunderstood, sorry about that. I just thought you despised feminine fashion in general because you felt it was opressive or something. It's just I had the same problem, but I somehow got over that issue - as long as it looks cool, I don't mind either boyish or girlish things (with the exception of clothes that actually show a disproportionate amount of T&A).

Sadly, it all goes down to the infamous Most Writers Are Male (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MostWritersAreMale) trope. It's both the reason why video game gals can't dress like actual women and the reason why the characters are badly written compared to the males. Any game will usually contain either case, or both at the same time. You can either get a great character in skimpy clothes (like in Bayonetta's case - her lines are badass, but the get-up... well, she IS supposed t be a parody of this trope) AT BEST, or you can have a girl that actually looks quite cool, but lacks personality (i.e. Madison of Heavy Rain, who wears the modest jeans+t-shirt combo and has a great short haircut, but alas, she spent most of the game running away from rapists).
You have to keep in mind that 1) more often then not, male writers can't understand women (which is actually natural, as it works both ways) and thus can't create believable personalities 2) videogamedom is traditionally a guys' safe zone, and they do not want to see realistic, flawed personalities, since they wnat to break away from the real life problems. So we get testosterone-laden definitions of cool and witty on the guys' side, and... well, this.

So seriously, check out Megaten. It lacks most of aforementioned problems, and has the most badass character designs for everyone, at least in the older games, the latter are more YMMV. Check (http://dokuganryu.com/scans/megaten/dds/14.jpg)these (http://dokuganryu.com/scans/megaten/devil/34.jpg) out (http://dokuganryu.com/scans/megaten/maken/27.jpg), for example.

Huh. I'd say your best bet is ateliers, as long as the desired outfit is not too detailed. I'm from Russia, and that's not exactly Europe in terms of variety of clothes, but I just bought everything I need on my last visit to Britain, and the shops there are pretty big on the unisex thing. Maybe it's a matter of perception, who knows.
