Someone complaining about a character using the word bitch as an verb is nowhere near the same thing as a person who burned their bras in the 70s. The Secret is about internet feminists, not people that actually do anything.

Have fun taking care of your husband and children. You should find happiness and fulfillment in your family and in things like cooking and sewing. If that doesn't make you happy and constitute the purpose of your life, you're an abomination and a disgrace to your own sex.

And what the fuck? What if that's what I WANT to do in life? Why the hell is that so wrong? Yes women should have choices but that is a choice as well and I'm sick of people acting like a woman that chooses to be a housewife is somehow stopping them from doing what they choose.

ITA with your last point. So what if a woman wants to be a housewife and raise children and take care of her family? So what if a woman wants the man to be the dominant one in the relationship/lifestyle? She's not forcing anyone else to live her life, nor is she proclaiming her life choices to be the only correct ones to make, and I hate that she gets used as an example by other women of "what not to do" and "a failure" and gets made to feel like she should be ashamed of herself. Let's not even get into what kind of monster a man who wants that kind of woman is made out to be.

No, I'm not crying for the poor judged wo/man, only pointing out the stupid hypocrisy of YOU HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO BE LIBERATED AND FREE. OR ELSE.

On the subject of feminism in general, I'd just like to ask one thing: does anybody know what year women were finally allowed to serve active duty on Navy submarines?

The answer would be 2010. This is mainly directed to all the people claiming modern feminists don't mean as much as those from the first and second waves (not you in particular, but there seems to be an awful lot of people with this opinion on this thread.)

That paragraph isn't degrading women who want those things. It's pointing out the attitude that all women want those things and if they don't there's something wrong with them.

I think the problem is that women are often said that this should be the only thing they should want: to take care of a family.

Yeah, I have issues with people thinking that if a woman chooses to get married and have a family like this is anything less than a choice.

That's what bothers me, too. It was problematic decades ago - hell, even now - if it's something the woman does solely because it's expected of her. Feminism is all about equal rights and equal opportunities for a woman to choose what she wants to do with her life. If her choice, after considering her options, is to be a housewife and raise a family, there isn't a goddamn thing wrong with it.

The key thing is that she is completely satisfied with her choice, and that it is something she does of her own free will, not because it's expected.
