I'll tell you about the most militant fandom feminist I ever crossed paths with online. She joined communities, attacked writers of stories who didn't write the female character exactly the way she would have written her, talked down to anyone who didn't agree with her or questioned her interpretation, and encouraged her friends to all do the same. And many did.

I actually won't voice any judgment on these methods; I just wanted to set the scene to show she was vocally passionate about feminism. My dislike of her came from seeing how she commented elsewhere than these communities that were high-profile in fandom, such as on her own and other people's individual journals. Such as, one time she was whining about not knowing how to perform some simple household repair, and went on a tear about how it was all Daddy's fault for not teaching her because she was a girl and not a boy - the key element there is that she was in her late 20s AND STILL DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO DO IT. Instead of asking someone to show her or reading a book or taking a class on it, or - God forbid - demanding that Daddy teach her anyway, she was whining how she still didn't know how to do the smegging repair. (I had the most misogynistic father in the universe, not to mention he hated to teach, and the man still taught me how to do basic car maintenance and simple home repairs because I asked to learn.) Also, she would go on how the female should be dominant in relationships, kids were a ball-and-chain designed to keep her down, yadda yadda - and then she'd happily squee over stories where her favorite female character had babies with her favorite male character, or got knocked up by him. All the while bitching anytime there was a story where she got knocked up by the canon male love interest, and citing "feminism" as the reason for her rage. (Of course that wasn't the problem. The problem is the story had her preferred female character accepting the wrong penis.)

I don't dislike fandom feminists. But I no longer accept them at their word that what they're preaching at me in a fannish forum is what they necessarily believe about feminism and gender relations. Sometimes it's just a convenient method to bully, since if anyone argues with it, the counter is "Misogynist!" whether it's true or not. I far prefer a feminist who shows through her everyday comments and behavior that she's a feminist, not one who hijacks it to justify her own fannish preferences and uses it as a bludgeon on anyone who doesn't agree with her.
