Frankly, I dislike fandom feminists. I like feminists (those that have feminist values which extend away from the computer and the internet). You don't have to be a militant lesbian to support women's rights - you don't have to chain yourself to a building or wear a t-shit saying "men are slags" - but just supporting women's rights by interjecting when things are wrong and holding women up is enough.

Frankly, I think that fandom feminists can go hang themselves. Everything has become more focused on being politically correct rather than people simply enjoying themselves. FWIW, I agree with you, anon. I love that there are people in fandom thinking about, talking about, and trying to at least tackle some of these issues. It's not perfect by a long shot, but it's a lot better than the real world at the moment, and I've learned and thought about things in fandom that never would have occured to me in my everyday life, especially with regard to language and silencing.

Kindly turn in any university degrees and professional training certificates you might have.

Be secure in the knowledge that you will never hold any public office. Or indeed have any say in how your state/region/country is run. Ever.

Take off your pants. It doesn't matter if they're practical and sensible, you're a freak for donning men's clothing.

Return half of all of your paychecks back to your employer. You don't deserve to be paid as much as your male coworkers because you're a woman.

Keep telling yourself that enjoying sex is wrong. Also, be ready to put up with spousal rape. An adjective you might like to become acquainted with in case you can't orgasm from vaginal penetration: "frigid".

Have fun taking care of your husband and children. You should find happiness and fulfillment in your family and in things like cooking and sewing. If that doesn't make you happy and constitute the purpose of your life, you're an abomination and a disgrace to your own sex.

I'm not sure how I feel about fandom feminists. It's taught me a lot of things I would not have known from living here in the 'burbs, but it gets really out of hand. A lot of people spend more time yelling at others than discussing why it's bad. They're certainly entitled to be angry, but it is possible to be angry and have a productive discussion at the same time.

I like fandom feminists too. Sometimes I'll be watching a movie or tv show and something will bother me. It's nice to go online and realize that it got other people's attention too. I like the discussions it can bring up.
