You want to tell me his 3D art isn't art? If you want a prime example, go look at official art of Gattsu/Guts and compare them, then tell me that isn't fucking beautiful art.
Seriously, get a feeling for what 3D art IS before you open your mouth and make yourself look like an idiot.

The thing that got to me is that s/he is condemning an entire MEDIUM whereas the criticism should be made of the artist. I've seen a hell of a lot of lousy drawings/paintings/digital art but I wouldn't claim that drawing wasn't art or that painting wasn't art etc. etc.

Criticize the artist for not using the medium well, don't criticize the medium.

Precisely. It seems pretty well apparent to me that s/he doesn't have a clue what the difference between poser/sim retextures (which, if done well, are -still- goddamn gorgeous) and fully made 3D work is, as well.
