Oh, I know- I just meant for 'perfectly well-adjusted' to be on the other end of the scale from 'sadistic and/or psychotic'.

It'd be a matrix rather than a spectrum, surely? 'nice' in one corner, 'sadistic' in one corner, 'sane' in one corner, 'psychotic' in one corner, with a sign on the lawn telling people to stop clustering in the upper-right corner.
