Isn't this a personal attack or something?

So... am I the only one who immediately thought this secret was submitted by the author, trying to drum up sympathy or attention for his/her fics?

It seems odd that anyone would care so much about someone else's writing, especially if they're not a BNF or overexposed in some way.

On the other hand, I have no idea who this is directed at. So I don't really feel guilty about being all OMG OMG CAN'T WAIT FOR THE WANK HERE about it.

If they ain't a "BNF", I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for drama. There isn't going to be any.

Someone not liking your fic is not a personal attack against you. It just isn't.

I don't recognize the writer the secret's about, but this just comes off as really petty and mean-spirited. You really felt the need to call someone out on F!S for writing fanfic you dislike?

I honestly don't get why you care. They're not a bnf, so it's not "how dare you be popular when you suck" resentment, or "your shitty characterization is now fanon" annoyance. Everyone sees people in fandom who write badfic. And they pretty much ignore them. Life's too short, man.

Whoever this is has as much right as you do to participate in fandom. You have every right not to read their fics, not to friend their journal, not to give a crap about them. But you don't have the right to play policeman and decide that fandom has to read and write fics that please you.

So tl;dr: Grow up.

The whole ME community is a big giant joke. Just venture out into the depths of hell called bioware forums. Most vomit inducing would be where everyone kisses ass in the fem shep thread. If I have to see one more picture by chignon or sagequeen and everyone praising their ugly ass shepards I'm going to scream.

This makes me want to find their fic and give them some honest, polite critique on it; something every writer deserves. Apparently whatever fandom they are in doesn't have the gall to and instead acts passive aggressive instead.
