Read the whole fucking secret before commenting. I said our world is fucked up enough already; we should try make THIS world a better place before dreaming of saving other worlds.

No, it's not. But I think if a person fantasizes about saving another world, they should actively help saving ours at the same time.

WWF, and I help out in a soup kitchen once a month. It's not much, but at least I do something.

Because I assume that 85% of the people talking about being sucked into another universe because they're demon princess XY, are not older than 16, and therefore not concerned with worldly issues.

I think there's enough 'pure' left in this world that's worth fighting for. We have art and love and .. just the things that make life worth living. A world with clearly defined blacks and whites would be poor because a lot of the things we love (and hate) are double-sided. Of course it would be easier if you knew who/what was evil because there would practically be no conflict. But would a world like this not eventually turn into a totalitarian society?
I'd rather live in an imperfect world I can change and form myself, than a world where everything already is decided.

MY HERO!

Oh, wait. I mean, I help out too. With the people who have death looming over them. Aaaaaand I kind have the looming thing to. I wish I had a hero. Am I not allowed to? Oh, I'm kinda confused. I mean, are dreams not allowed?

I'll dream what I damn well please. It's MY mind not yours. You don't like it, you know what you can do with yourself.

Re: 8.

(Anonymous) 2007-05-24 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
*shrugs* I don't think you have the right to dream of being a hero if you can't even donate $10 a month to keep people around the world from dying, but rather buy a manga.

Re: 8.

[identity profile] lostremnant.livejournal.com 2007-05-24 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
What makes you think I don't donate? And answer my question what do YOU do to save this world? Come on sunshine you're real good at telling other people what to do so let's hear what YOU do. You're not one of those hypocrites who have the "don't do as I do, do as I say," attitudes do you?

Well gee that doesn't sound like much. Why do you have a computer? Surely the money that you spent on a computer could have been better spent HELPING people.

Re: 8.

(Anonymous) 2007-05-24 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
What do YOU do? I mean, except fight for your dreams, which is not of much use to anybody unless you write a self-help book.

(And hey, I like myself and am totally able to help without sacrificing myself. Which isn't really the point at all, because I don't think that anybody is required to share what they have, unless they're complaining about how shitty the world is because hypocrisy is something that seriously pisses me off.)

Re: 8.

[identity profile] lostremnant.livejournal.com 2007-05-24 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
Well, well so you're willing to help AS LONG AS YOU DON'T HAVE TO SACRIFICE ANYTHING. Wow aren't you a real hero. That speaks volumes to me. You sanctimoniously tell other people that they don't even have the right to dream unless they're doing something to save the world. Yet you aren't willing to sacrifice anything of yourself. You're just good at telling OTHER people what to do.

And working in a soup kitchen is all very well but you know what sunshine? It ain't going to change the world. That doesn't mean it shouldn't be done just that you have to have realistic ideas of what makes a REAL difference and what doesn't.

Because soup kitchens only feed people for the day, they don't address WHY those people are hungry in the first place. But you keep on patting yourself on the back so you can feel superior. Because ultimately that's all you're doing...making yourself feel superior.

Re: 8.

(Anonymous) 2007-05-24 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
Are you really that stupid? Just asking, because I don't get how you can twist a normal statement into that.

All I said was that you can help people without sacrificing anything. Everybody wins! What's so bad about that? DUH.

Also, OF COURSE ONE PERSON CAN'T CHANGE SHIT. But a lot of people (that's more than two or three, too! A LOT MORE) can! But if people fantasize about far-off alternate realities instead of doing something about our own world, nothing will ever change. Do you get it now? I don't know how I could say this any clearer.
