Social class is no problem nowadays, unless we are in some third world country. Same goes for race. Family and friends, you serious? Can a friend challenge your fiance to a duel and kill him? Can your father king throw you into jail for having a boyfriend he dislikes? They can't do crap. Religion, dunno, most people I know are atheists, others keep their religion to themselves. Profession? Eh, how? Unless he's a terrorist and she's a police officer. War ok. That's big.

Are you serious? Social class can totally be a deterrent to a relationship. Someone who grew up completely poor is going to have a hard time adjusting to suddenly being married to someone totally rich. Family and friends can't kill your fiance, but they can disapprove and work to keep you away from him (note that they can't kill your gay lover either, it works both ways). "Most people you know" might be atheists, but that doesn't mean all people are, and religion matters a hell of a lot -- a Muslim falling in love with a Jewish person, what then? Profession meaning they work together and an office romance is forbidden for whatever reason.

My dad is Japanese. My mom is S.Korean. They got married in the aftermath of WWII/the Korean War. Anybody that knows anything about Japan/Korea relations will tell you that LOL THIS HAS THE MAKINGS OF A CLASSIC FORBIDDEN ROMANCE (and the two sides of my family still hate each other a lot of the time and argue about everything)

My grandfather on my mom's side is S.Korean. My grandmother on my mom's side is NORTH Korean. THEY got married just after the divide. Anybody that knows anything about S.Korea/N.Korea relations will tell you that LOL THIS HAS THE MAKINGS OF A CLASSIC FORBIDDEN ROMANCE (and it involved sneaking my grandmother past the border from the North on a rowboat, literally)

I'm male and nobody ever said anything about my boyfriends. Not to say that people in gay relationships have it easy at all, but it's ridiculous to say that most/all het relationships are drama-free and most/all gay ones are troubled.

teacher/student is a classic! Also perhaps a romance between the president of a company and an underling... the underling gets accused of having 'slept their way up'. Celebrity/normal person; the normal person becomes a target for crazy fans or tabloid media and can't take the pressure.

Forget gangs, if your SO's family is psycho enough they'll just attack you regardless. A dude I know's girlfriend's family really hated him. Small town; he got attacked just being around. Knife fights were involved. They hated him when he was dating her, they hated him when they broke up, and eventually he had to leave town or just keep getting into random fights with her parents/cousins/brothers etc.

Fucked up, but true.
