Huh, interesting. I don't see a lot of hate for the game - even the reader reviews on GameFAQs are excellent - aside from the usual gits and their BAWWW WHY ISN'T THIS MW2?!!!!!

You know, the same nobs that were screaming BAWWW WHY ISN'T THIS COD4?!!! when MW2 came out. I thought the general consensus was that they fixed a lot of MW2's multiplayer issues, the storyline of single player was one of the best, and Nazi Zombie was, once again, almost worth $60 in and of itself.

Yeah the lack of co-op campaign was lame, but how would they have done that in the story? I guess the second player could have alternated between Woods, Reznov, and Weaver...

The lone published example I can think of of someone ragging on it is that moron on the Escapist who didn't understand the plot. And hoo boy, if you can't "get" the single player story of a Call of Duty game, it might be time to reconsider your career.

Yeaaaaahhhh the whole article was basically "baaawwwww one of the best FPS games out there so everyone is going to buy it and I'm butthurt at Activision whyyyyy don't people play the games IIII like??? I didn't geeeeet it what was with the numbers it was haaaaaarrd. And there was like this one short level that was mostly plot on rails UNLIKE COD4 which had 'The Coup' which was a plot mission on rails-----2/5".

It was like they let some forum fanboy at a published column. Yes, we get it. You're butthurt about Acti firing some of IW. Yes, you're butthurt that people enjoy things you don't enjoy. Yes, it is still objectively an excellent game. Have a teddy bear, go to bed, and give your job to a professional.

I haven't seen any hate for it either. My only real complaint is how I or my friends online get disconnected from each other playing mutliplayer and/or how one of us can't hear another friend yet a third friend can hear both of us fine.

And I see no way how campaign mode could've had a co-op mode. It's story was centered around Mason so the way I see it adding in a co-op character would've detracted from that in a bad way.

I thought the campaign was great too, OP. It was definitely one of the best games this year, much better than Modern Warfare 2.

I didn't get the hate either, but I guess a lot of hate game from the escapist but lets be honest, nobody really cares what yatzhee says, do they?

Oh and I felt really bad for Mason too.

No worries, I choked up on my second playthrough, knowing what was going to happen, every time he spoke to you quietly with "it is time" and "stay with me".

I think you're allowed to have manly tears for your fallen comrades. Heck, some fanboy on the IGN forums admitted to crying during One Shot, One Kill and nobody even dies in that.

I wasn't aware there was any hate already. I have a handful of co-workers, who still won't stop talking about it (or football. I'll gladly listen to video games rather than football). Though, the only thing they seem to do with it is shoot Nazi zombies.

Maybe that's why people are mad. They camped out in front of the damn store and fought crowds for one game mode. On the other hand, you could have gone out at your leisure and had your pick of games devoted to shooting zombies.

....I think people are just sick of seeing/hearing about CoD. I wouldn't call that hate though (although pretty much everybody I talk to claims they hate Activision). I used to hate seeing CoD everywhere but then I started to think about trying more FPSes. the one that gets suggested THE MOST is CoD4. I'll try anything once, just not at $50-60 a pop.

And then I hear people going BAWWWWW IT'S NO MODERN WARFARE 2. To which I say: then go fucking play MW2!

I've seen the haters posting in facebook and what not, but I think the main frustration over this game is the crappy connection and how the players always seems to get disconnected from the host for some reason or other. Not to mention, having the lobby closed when there's 12 players readying up to play team death match. Apart from that, I think the game itself is fantastic, and the storyline great.

Yeah, don't get the hate either, OP. This game, (on Wii or PS3, I've played both) is a fun experience and one of the few "don't miss" games of the year, along with Metroid: Other M and Donkey Kong Country.

And I'm considering RPing Mason, so you can take that for what it's worth XD

Honestly, it's the fandom base that explains the hate. The same thing happened when Modern Warfare 2 came out; everyone was shitting their pants over it for like a week, and then they got tired of their new toy and threw a tantrum. Same thing happened with Black Ops, and will probably happen with Modern Warfare 3. Sure there are a lot of issues with the game- there are a lot of issues with all games this massive. I can't seem to get through one mission on Fallout without something freezing or doing the Getdown glitch, for instance.

Anyway, my thoughts on the game- single player's story was well-written and hard-hitting. I didn't see the plot twist coming at all, and it was worked into the story well. Using flashbacks to introduce the levels was brilliant, and I thought following only three main people that were all really close was a good choice (thought MW2's plot was too scattered, and had us playing nobodies). I liked all the playable characters and found myself rooting for them.

On the multi- yes, there are some issues, but the balancing and policing is SO MUCH BETTER than MW2's. Treyarch has done 4-5 patches by now, and actively listens to what the community wants and needs. They don't tolerate cheaters, and get on them fast. Yeah, sometimes the servers are derpy, but honestly there's always going to be something going pear-shaped when it comes to player-hosted matches (different connection speeds and all that).

TL;DR- Agreed so hard, OP. And much love for standing up against the haters.
