I have no clue where you got the idea that I was playing it for the story but ok. Actually, it was my first fps game :\ I still don't think the story was that bad, even the online.

Thing is, saying you liked it and it was your first fps game is like saying Twilight is your favourite romance novel but you've never read any others. It's not a BAD game - it's AAA after all - but judged against the background of other FPS games, it isn't that good. Everything will seem novel and exciting if you've never played something of that genre before, but if you're already familiar with it it loses the magic. Anyway, CoD is hugely focused on its online multiplayer at the present time, so... yeah the single-player campaign is not very good compared to actual single-player FPS games.

What single player FPS games are better that aren't more or less RPGs, like Deus Ex and Bioshock? Because the only other FPSs that I can think of - like R6 Vegas and Battlefield - have a strong multiplayer focus, too, and frankly CoD's stories are decidedly better than R6's or Haze's or Crysis' Bad Company's.

Fair point, hadn't really thought about how most of them were mixed genre. HL2 perhaps? FPSs have always been quite focused on multiplayer, it's hard for me to even think of some to compare the storylines with CoD. I have to admit though, FPSs are not my field of expertise!
