Fanservice is as old as art itself. How do you even differentiate between the author/mangaka/playwright writing/drawing something because they themselves find it hot, and the act of fanservice. And why does it matter?
I can maybe understand that you could feel iffy about an author/mangaka 'selling out', but even in such a situation it's difficult to know if they planned the development all along, and it's just you feeling they're selling out because canon took a turn you didn't like.
And not that it's any of my business, but do you ever sound like a joyless tightass. 'Credibility.' IDEK
