20. I still don't understand why people do that. Not only are they trying to get it to the screen, they're also trying to market it to NON-comics fans. And that takes a lot in itself, let alone trying to keep it close to the original idea.

You can tl;dr me any day, and I'll read it. ♥

It really was, but what're you gonna do, right? I originaly only went for Venom anyway, which the only thing he lacked was that amazing tongue, but otherwise I'm pretty satisfied with it. AND YES, they really should. >: I'll probably see it again a few more times before it leaves the theaters.

Oho. I am the secret maker. ♥

I suggest doing a search for Sheik in interests and clicking on any Sheik communities or Zelda icon/graphic ones. I have seen nice Sheik icons in [livejournal.com profile] ssb_graphics. :D

I guess that they don't get that movies are usually directed at a wider audience than the comic/book/whatever fans. If you're going to make a movie, you'll want it to appeal to as much people as possible, which sometimes means you have to tweak the canon, change the characters a bit, add different themes, etc. and still make it recognizable to the faithful fans of the original version. There needs to be something for everybody.

I don't know much about the comics because superheroes really aren't my thing, but from what I can tell it's actually a fairly good adaption compared to some movies. There are lots of worse ones out there that people could be whining about instead, but they choose Spiderman because it's the most popular.

Were people this upset over the cartoon when it came out? Because I remember watching it as a six-year-old every night before I went to sleep, and "abysmal" doesn't even begin to describe how bad that show was. Dx Much, much worse than anything the movies have dished out so far.

10. I work at an arts and crafts store, and today while stocking, I picked up a "How to Draw Manga" book. Pricing it and laying in on the shelf was quite possibly one of the hardest things I've ever done. I hate those stupid "how to draw manga" books because what they're teaching people to draw is "American Manga", if that makes sense. The characters in those books are drawn manga style, but it's so obvious they were drawn by an American. I can't explain it, but the look is different, and I sincerely hope no one buys that book. Urgh.

Not sure if this was very relevant to your secret or not, but I wanted to get it out.

One of my friends bought one when she was starting out. It actually did help her, and she's a pretty good artist now. And thank god, her drawings look nothing like the author's.

It was like a hybrid of typical shoujo manga and 80s/90s American cartoons; more of a Japanese-inspired style than authentic. And the styles differ from artist to artist anyway, so I don't really get why he'd try to stuff it all into one book. He sold his way of drawing, not the Japanese way, and I don't think it should have been labeled manga because it wasn't.

14. YES

18. l-lol

19. The art was gorgeous for that manga, but damn it sucked. Hahaha. Waste of money if you ask me :/ ("I AM IN LOVE WITH MY RAPIST WHO ALSO KILLED MY MOTHER/FATHER")

Well that's good to hear. :) I suppose those books can in fact help aspiring artists, since most people will develop their own style as they improve, anyway. I briefly considered saying something about that in my previous comment, but... no. Your friend's story is... inspiring. X)

18. I KNOW RIGHT???? Ughhh I am so sick of seeing western animation anime-fied. They turn all the delightfully unattractive fellows into bishounen (which is a retarded word btw)
