Maybe try and talk to him, to see if he feels the same way? You don't want to have mixed signals.

And life isn't going to happen exactly like the manga, it's always played up for drama and suspense anyways, so if you have a strong friendship with him, being able to talk to him about a relationship should be easy if you think he feels the same way.
