Are you calling Reno ugly?But seriously, you're missing out. There are a TON of older Playstation games with very solid gameplay. FFVII's mechanics are really simple, but its battle system is still my favorite out of any RPG.
If nothing else, it might be worth it for you to emulate some old games to just try them and see how you feel. The graphics DO get in the way of gameplay for me in some games, though. (like Jet Moto where I can't even figure out what the hell I'm looking at...) But idk... It's kind of a shame if you feel that way.
