Fair? No.

But life was never fair.

Some people are born prettier.
Some people are born into richer families.
Some people live until they're 110 and some die of terrible disease in high school.

But there is something as a calculated risk.

If I know that having children will give me a career hit,and I chose to have kids anyway, isn't that nobody's responsibility but my own?

But blaming men for your own failures is also a cop-out.

That's not empowerment.

The fact that it's a risk for me and not for him is mostly biological, not cultural. A man can walk away from a pregnancy. A woman - unless choosing abortion - cannot. Tat isn't fair, it's shitty as hell, but it's a reality that you have to take into account when you have sex.

As far as I know, where I live, you cannot force a man to do that unless he has officially and willingly recognized the child as being his, regardless of DNA.

-if that fails, abortion
-if that fails, adoption

The point is that women DO control what they do with their bodies in this society.

We have gotten to that point and that's a GOOD thing.

You, and you alone decide whether you wish to be a mother.

He, and he alone should be able to decide if he wishes to be a father. If not in body, then in spirit.

No-one is denying you contraception.

No-one is denying you a termination.

No-one is stopping you from finding adoptive parents.

You are not *forced* to be a mother.It's a choice, and that choice does have certain consequences. Every choice does come with a price.

There is so much negative stigma and poor education about sex and abortion that no, actually, women don't have a hell of a lot of control over their bodies.

If a man wishes not to be a father? He should be careful about contraception, and he should decide whether or not he wants to risk the possibility to have sex.

Or get a fucking vasectomy.
