That might be shallow, but it isn't terrible or even difficult to understand. A lot of guys expect themselves to find really attractive women because "all those ugly guys get them." I don't see anything wrong with a woman expecting to land a really attractive man; your pessimism about it is actually kind of depressing. :\

I don't think there's any need to bash you for a secret like this one, but I think you might find eventually that improbably super-gorgeous types are not the be-all end-all men. Personality can count for a lot. Maybe one day you'll run into someone who doesn't make you feel as if you're settling for less.

I see nothing wrong with this, in the end true love in real world doesn't exist either. If it did women wouldn't cheat on their husbands so often, we only get together because of sex and there's no way someone could love an ugly person. It's all faking so I guess it doesn't matter whether you love a perfect cartoon character or a "real" person.

You know what I find sad or maybe amusing? If this person said, "I'm so plain, guys don't ask me out, but I want romance, so I turned to fictional men", people would be cuddling her. But she said she liked pretty men, and then people fell all over her like sharks. Is it forbidden to have some standards? Even if they are kinda shallow.

OP, it's not your looks. It's luck or maybe the amount of people you meet. I'm pretty. Not beautiful but definitely good looking. So? Gorgeous men still don't want me. Besides, judge your chances, how many gorgeous men do you meet on average in a month? How possible is it for them to notice you? Unless you are really drop dead gorgeous, so much that people gape at you when you pass them by.

I'm pretty average (not ugly, but certainly not gorgeous) and I never dated or even had a crush on people who were less than a 7 in a scale of 1 to 10. So there you go, it IS possible.

You could also be determined to not be ordinary. It's amazing what you can do with hair, clothes, make-up. And on the non-physical level, if you actually have interests that you are passionate about in your life, and you're happy about that, and confident, that takes you a long, long way.

There were a few years in my teens where I really was an ugly duckling, awful hair, braces, clumsy long limbs...
But I grew out of it, developed my own style and as an adult I got to be with guys I *do* find hot, and would have considered "out of my league" back then.

Then again, alternatively looking at pretty manga boys and becoming a hermit is also an option....
