I love it how people here are all, go, find your hot man.
Statistics are ruthless.
How many new men do you meet per week? Unless you go out very often or have a very public job, then possibly not so many.
How many of them are really beautiful? 1%? 2%?
How many of them are your type? Because it's impossible to have the hots for every hot guy you see, even among them some won't be sexually attractive to you. Just like in Ouran, say, you might admit that both Kyoa and Tamaki are hot but prefer one of them.
How many of those beautiful men have tastes that are similar to your own type (no you don't have to be gorgeous but they are going to have their own visual preferences)?
Unless you spend all of your free time on dating sites, in night clubs, and trying to meet new people everywhere you go, you have maybe 0,0001% chance to meet a gorgeous man who's your type whose type is similar to your own looks, and all of this disregards personality issues.
Luck huh.

Oh, no, that's terrible! then maybe for fuck's sake try and do what pretty much everyone else does, ie, learn the looks or 'your type' aren't all that matters. (Yeah, typing that hurt, because I feel I'm some sort of stupid rom-com or Disney film. Still.)

The statistics above are scary for more reasons than one. XD But this kind of argument is completely hard to understand. The statistics-loving anon has a point. People have their "types". They don't get sexually attracted to others just because of their minds or hearts. So what is a person supposed to do if they can't get the type they want -- force themselves into pretending they want someone else when in fact they don't? You can't cheat your body. It knows its reactions.

No, but accepting that 10 chest hairs that you preferred were not there, or a pimple every now and then, or him being 2 inches smaller/taller than you'd have preferred etc.... are not the end of the world in a partner, and are generally outweighed by the whole package.

[identity profile] illegal-goddess.livejournal.com 2011-01-10 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I dunno, in my experience 10 extra hairs and such is pretty rare compared to stuff like "I want an elf-like blond guy who's smart, extremely graceful and has patrician features, but I'm asked out by a lanky nerdy brunette with knobby knees".

So? OP never said "well I tried really hard and I haven't found an attractive man who likes me." OP states it as fact that "a guy as gorgeous as this will never look at a girl as ordinary as I am", so it comes off as defeatist. So the gist of the secret is BAWWW IT'S IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO GET LAID GUESS I'LL SLISH TO CARTOON CHARACTERS

This is a revolting attitude whether or not you are female or male. In fact, I see it more often online in males than I do females. Look at all the "waifu" threads on /a/. It would be depressing if I had any sympathy for these people, but really, I don't.

(Anonymous) 2011-01-10 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Most people like that who don't give up end up hurting real people by going the make-believe route. That is, they get a real partner but sort of keep pretending that partner is different from what they really are.

[identity profile] kallanda-lee.livejournal.com 2011-01-09 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
Yet, the majority of people manage to hook up with someone...even more than once in their lifetime! *gasp*

(Anonymous) 2011-01-09 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
This. Everyone in a relationship makes some sort of concession. Everyone. Life is not a build-a-bear workshop and you don't get to pick exactly what you want in a partner. Yet most people seem to achieve a reasonable level of happiness in spite of this. If looks are your top priority and you won't settle for anything less than exactly what you want, that's fine. No one's going to force you to do otherwise. But certainly don't expect sympathy when you set yourself up for failure with such narrow and exclusive standards.

As an aside, I wish people would stop comparing preferences for build or a certain color hair with sexual orientation. It is not accurate and is offensive to homosexuals and heterosexuals alike.

Wait, for your last sentence: I never said that, and I wonder exactly what you mean...
Like, in the sense that for example you would prefer someone who is "tall-dark and straight-looking?"
Or, does it simply bother you sexual orientation is brought down to the same level as things like hair colour?

(Anonymous) 2011-01-10 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
Your last sentence is what I meant.
