I know that there are people around here who find that things like Twilight, Harry Potter, etc etc have done something big for them or inspired them to be something about themselves.

This is no different. Every show is going to have its own fans who find something that they find about themselves in it.

To be honest, while I love Lost, I hate Twilight and dislike Rowlings' writing style.

But you know what? I don't turn around and call the people who go off with these things pretentious.

I appreciate what they were saying in Lost. That ending actually helped me while I was struggling with a very difficult time. If you can't understand that, fine. Whatever. I got what's important to me out of it, just like I'm sure you got what's important to you out of the things that you enjoy and care about.

(Look at 14, for example. I can't stand what FFX-2 did to the story of FFX. But if it, along with the first game, served as inspiration to help someone with? More power to them!)



....and like what everyone else has said. Why don't you actually give it a shot before you decide to hate it? "I've never seen a single episode of this show" completely invalidates your argument.
