LOL. I never said I was conservative at all. I have been defensive of conservatives in the past in the sense that I feel that some of them have been unfairly attacked in fandom because people erroneously assume all conservatives are of the socially conservative variety. I have respect for people who I disagree with politically (well, unless they are of the intolerant socially conservative variety that is) so I feel bad when they are unjustly attacked or judged by others.

I consider myself a moderate -- I do think government spends too much money... on corporate welfare and defense (I'm not anti-military but I don't think we need to be doling out as much money as we are on defense contracts, either. And for those who go LOL WE'RE AT WAR[S], well, the fact that people stand to gain so much money from war is precisely the reason we have so many wars.) And I certainly think there are people who abuse social welfare, and that social programs should be focused on helping people take care of themselves rather than just supporting them. I do ultimately feel that it's the government's role to provide social services, though, so in that sense I couldn't possibly be conservative
