I think a lot of this stems from what is perceived as beautiful in different cultures. I actually remember reading about this earlier...

For what it's worth, I agree with the developers...I like her design, and I happen to think she's beautiful and fierce. But YMMV.

Me too! I haven't played this game, but I would just because she seems so awesome. I love the comments from the developer on the fan "makeover".

Not surprising that some Kotaku forum nerd came up with the second version. Animu probably broke his brain so he can't find realistic women attractive anymore.

Faith is a great design and a cool female character (strong, well-motivated, tough and never once exploited physically) in a medium that's a desolate wasteland for such ideas. I'm surprised a boring studio like EA ever took that risk but I'm grateful they did.
