I have 17 years in the business and have talked to counteless number of brides, a great deal of the time they don't want to wear the Big White Dress. Half of them don't even want to have the wedding but are pushed into it because of family's/partners/programming. I can't count the number of times I've heard "I just want to get this over with."
I'm only encouraging diversification in the whole big wedding trap. (And by trap, I mean the business that preys on the princess complexes of girls who've seen too much Cinderella, not the actual "marriage", that's different) People are varied individuals with vast opinions/hobbies/like & dislikes - how about seeing some of that on the wedding table? I see the same dresses, hear the same music, wedding after wedding after wedding. To me, the day isn't special if you're just doing the same thing everyone else is in just the same way.
Far be it for me to discourage people to wear what they want, but yes - it is an overused and not even accurate symbol, and yes - it is my business if they do or don't wear it because I actually make money off it.
