As far as I recall, Gibbs has always respected his team and trusted in their abilities male or female. The only difference I can see is he'll kiss Abby on the cheek. But she's Abby.

I might like the spinoff if the writing wasn't shite and the characters laughable. I don't give a shit about any of the characters because they've never given me reason to. There's nothing intriguing about them. Also, Robin Chris O'Donnell as angsty lead? They're doing it wrong. I don't think that man could angst (or fake it) if his life depended on it.

I don't agree with your assessment of the original but I do find myself preferring LA. It's like a mix of the original show with The Unit which I deeply miss.

I've never enjoyed the spinoff. The plots seem clunky, I don't care about any of its characters, their humor style is bland. It just doesn't measure up to the original series to me.

I used to love the original but then the characters got really stupid and immature - especially Tony and Abby.

I haven't been able to watch the new one either, though. I like the characters, but the plots haven't been good enough to keep me watching.

I like the original, but much, MUCH less than I used to. Tony isn't funny anymore, the guy is almost or past 40. Grow the fuck up, or evince maturity sometimes, at LEAST. Abby isn't cute anymore--I don't know if it's the writing or what but her lines these days aren't endearing, they're just annoying (plus I lost most of my love for her when she wanted McGee to take home the dog that bit him. WTF?). McGee lost all his adorable weight and looks all bony. :(

At least Ducky and Palmer are still fun while retaining some dignity. And I like Vance better than the redhead boss lady. I could never take her seriously because of how she pronounced "La Genouille." It's not "gren-wee", lady. /bilingual French speaker

LA I really like now. First season I watched while rolling my eyes so hard it hurt, but it seems to have improved a lot this year, the cast gels so much better. Deeks (sp?) is funny WITHOUT being wanna-strangle-you annoying, and while there are still some scenes that feel a bit forced, it's just so much better than it was, I expect those will go away too (or I hope at least). And Hetty is awesome. Also, LL Cool J is hot, lol.

To a new viewer, I don't know what the relative quality of them would be like, but I now enjoy LA better than original-flavour.

I really like NCIS. I know we all have our own "goggles" in which we view things, but for me Gibbs isn't sexist at all. He treats women differently, but I think it is a reverence or respect or appreciation rather than bigotry.

But maybe that is just me.

I like both of them and appreciate their different styles. I thought the first half of season 8 has been clunky and a bit off-beat, but this second half so far (IMO) has been made of win.

I can respect that you prefer the LA version, but really? Gibbs is not sexist. He treats Abby differently, but only Abby. There aren't any huge differences in how he treats Ziva compared to Tony or McGee.

Personally, I couldn't get into the spinoff, and I still like all of the characters from the original show.

I enjoy NCIS with measure. It's just annoying that Gibbs is always right, even when he's wrong. At least the LA team sometimes scews up because yeah these missions never go a planned, that's what makes the show interesting!

It's sad that the team barely has any character evolution, they're all the same, just older. And everyone has daddy issues. Daddy issues =/= complex, deeeeep and angsty backstory / personality. Get original. You've had 8 seasons to make something up!
