You feel persecuted? Dude, try being an Anora fan.

Don't get me wrong. I don't have anything against the Queen ending or the Cousland origin in particular, but really it's not like y'all are underrepresented in fandom in any possible way or you have to watch your favorite character get bashed, mischaracterized and completely ruined all the freaking time.

Ironically, all the Anora-bashing within the fandom was what led to me totally love the character. After seeing her get painted as this viper in too many fics while getting slapped with ridiculous nicknames like "Awhorea", I was like "...woah now.", took a step back and got to really look at her character. And what I realized then was that Anora was pretty freaking awesome, and one of the strongest females in the game.

Oh they do much worse than that. I just read a fic where Anora marries Alistair and turns him into a drunk rapist by the sheer force of not being nice to him. And then after raping the Warden Amell (which of course is Anora's fault), Alistair retaliates by pissing on Anora's skirts. This, of course, is all cheered on by the readers.

Yeah, Dragon Age Fandom, I really hate you sometimes.

I actually have that same problem with almost every other fandom I'm in. I just don't get the Anora hate. She's just standing up for herself.

She really brings out the misogynist tendencies in a lot of fans. It's really quite disturbing and sickening to watch women hating on other women like that.

OK, I can see why people don't like her, but it still isn't appropriate. She's the only one that stands up for herself and her decisions.

It's odd; I like her as a character, you know, in how strong she is, and how clever and, honestly, ruthless, but I still really hated her? Well, I guess I respect/admire her, while cursing her name because I hate betrayal and general machinations, especially after I naively tried to save her with Luke Skywalker-esque intentions of honour, etc.
