Not to split hairs, but you're not really an animal rights activist. You're for animal welfare. Animal rights activists embrace vegetarianism because they don't believe in using animals for anything, least of all consumption. If you support humane and ethical treatment, but still hold the belief that we can respectfully use animals for food and companionship, you're for welfare, not rights. They really are two different things.

...Eh, either way my belief is 1. animals deserve better treatment and 2. extremists on either side are not a good thing. My primary issue is that people can brutally torture and kill animals and get away with it with a slap on the wrist at best, really. But there are good things out of animal rights as well and I fully support people who do things like go vegan in the name of animal rights even if I'm not going to do it myself. Maybe I am using the wrong term but I won't lose sleep over it.

Thanks for the heads up, though. I will keep that in mind.
