Well, I just thought it looked interesting and googled it. It looks like it hasn't even been released outside of Japan, so that might account for the lack of popularity.

Haha, same here. The synopsis according Wikipedia sounds intriguing, but the lack of Western fandom is understandable. There is a bit of fanart on pixiv (http://www.pixiv.net/search.php?s_mode=s_tag&word=%E3%82%B7%E3%82%B0%E3%83%9E+%E3%83%8F%E3%83%BC%E3%83%A2%E3%83%8B%E3%82%AF%E3%82%B9&p=4), though. I hope that's at least something, OP.

The lack of western release probably has a lot to do with that, OP. :( I'm disappointed, because I'd like to play it.

But either way, I definitely feel you about wanting more fandom for the less popular Squeenix titles.

If any of you ever play it, can you tell us what it's like? Because it LOOKS like a crappy rip-off of Shin Megami Tensei games (the lead character looks like a terrible trace of Souji from Persona 4, there's a pentagram in the logo, you talk to demons, everything). I'd really like to have some idea if it's a good game or as similar as it appears to this non-Japanese-reading/speaking fan before I say anything actually nasty about it.

Though I'll agree whoever did the artwork did a nice job.

Same anon. Demons isn't an odd concept, and pentagrams are...odd but not so much (more common than they used to be), but I did know you talked to the demons in the game, so they weren't entirely enemies (not a common concept that was used all through MegaTen games), and their games prominently feature their mocked-up pentagram sigil on the box artwork (much the way the pentagram is moderately prominent on the artwork for this game). Like I said, based on what I saw of it (not much), it had some off-puttingly similar stuff in it but I didn't want to draw any conclusions. Reading the next anon down, it sounds like they took it some other direction.

Well, I haven't played a minute of Persona, but as far as I see this, they don't have really much in common o_o

Sigma Harmonics is a, well, I'd call it mystery game where you have to solve murder cases in order to restore Sigmas (the guys) past, which has been rewritten by some mysterious guy and causes Sigma to not exist anymore in the present. The game itself resolves entirely around Sigma and his classmate Neon and his family.

The battle system focuses mainly on sound/song using, since Sigma can see the Ôma (demons), but can't touch them and Neon can fight them but can't see them, so he "conducts" her through music. Different music let's her do different actions. I think it's still a bit embryonic but it's interesting.
Though I haven't played much of the game myself and since I don't know japanese, I can only guess as much about the story, but for me, I quite like the game.

Oh and btw. where do you see a pentagram in the logo? o_o Neon has some on her gloves, but I don't see any in the logo, actually...

@OP I have to agree, the lack of a western release might be the reason that there isn't a real fandom. Though I doubt it will ever be released in western countries to some difficulties, since you place the game in the "book style" on the DS. Which means the japanese text is written top down in very narrow speech bubbles. I guess that's a big problem for the release.

Yeah, if it's not localized, your English-speaking fandom is practically non-existent. Especially if that game was released a couple-ish years ago.

It actually didn't do so well in Japan, so I'm not surprised they didn't bother to bring it over. I still wish they'd have taken the risk though since it looked interesting.

I'm interested but the raw Japanese would slow down my ability to play the game considerably. Judging from the Wiki page, though, it looks relevant to my interests!

It may have fallen off people's radar since it's not out in the West, anon. I remember fandom friends and acquaintances being fascinated, but... yeah.

That's how I feel about the Shadow Hearts series.
