not judging you anon, i have a crush on dave too
i think the main problem is that since hussie is not 13 he doesn't write the characters like they're thirteen and they don't really look thirteen in hero mode either, and people crush on their personalities for the most part, causing that "AUGH HE'S THIRTEEN BUT HE'S ATTRACTIVE" thing. He should have made 'em at least 16, that's legal in most places. but then it might not have quite the same coming of age tone. I dunno.
