Agreed. Why is "fat acceptance" even a concept? Is "anorexia acceptance" going to be the next social rights movement? Why are we turning obesity into an acceptable state, instead of leaving it a warning sign that the people with the problem need help? If someone has anorexia, you don't try to raise their self esteem by giving them anorexic protagonists that starve themselves with no remorse, you try to steer them towards psychologists that can help them become healthy again. No one coddles them into thinking being unhealthy is beautiful and they show stay the way they are, with the same dangerous habits. Fat acceptance is as disgusting as pro-ana communities.

God yes, thank you. As more and more people (in the US at least) become obese, the market grows for ~fat acceptance~ bullshit. It's ridiculous.

They're not even remotely the same thing.

Anorexia is a mental illness. Obesity is not. A pro-binge-eating-disorder community would be on par with a pro-anorexia community.

Just because someone is fat doesn't mean they have an eating problem.

Anyway, what you're saying is, it's okay that fat people are brutally stigmatized and made fun of constantly? It's okay that they are rejected for jobs and such more often?

Overweight people can have a number of eating disorders, like did you know they can be anorexic and bulimic as a result of desperation to lose the weight because of the way society treats them?

No, wrong on both accounts.

For both anorexics and people who are overweight, IT IS NEVER RIGHT TO TREAT THEM BADLY OR TAKE DOWN THEIR SELF ESTEEM. It is actually counter productive to make fun of a person's body type and then expect them to care enough to start treating themselves right. You don't tell an anorexic they're "too skinny" and you don't tell someone who over eats they're "too fat."

You are also comparing someone who for sure you know has an eating disorder with someone who you don't know if they have an eating disorder.

I exercise everyday, I eat 3 meals a day, I lost a considerable amount of weight but I am still fat due to a medical condition. Whenever I go to the Doctor everything checks out great- cholestoral, no diabetes, nothing of concern ever pops up- ever. I don't smoke, I don't drink and I don't do any drugs.

I am still fat, do you have the right to make fun of me?

No you don't.

It is not your business how healthy or unhealthy I am, and I can tell you right now if fucktards like you would have left me alone a lot earlier in life I would have always taken as good of care of myself as I do now and would have avoided a lot of depression. Accept different bodytypes and deal with it.

Fat acceptance is just what it means, acceptance. I am not asking people to be fat or supporting it as a lifestyle, just that they be okay with the fact that I am and not treat me like I am less then human.
