...*raises hand*...I'm not sure your ire is entirely justified; cyberpunk and steampunk as genres have very different overarching themes and more importantly, different levels of and treatments of technology and humanity's relationship to technology. FF7 is decidedly in the former category rather than the latter. You are grossly miscategorizing a work and being indignant that someone called you out on it.

Your umbrage at their patronizing remark at the end is understandable; however, in your response you illustrate that the miscategorization was not a simple mistake or typo, but rather a fundamental misunderstanding of the genres. Levels of technology are not the only difference between steampunk and cyberpunk - far from it - and in this context the anon's dismissive remark is quite understandable.
