As someone said up-thread, sometimes people buy only from one company because they know they're more likely to like it. Now if they're being annoyingly arrogant and think Nintendo is God, yeah, that's irritating. But if they're only playing Nintendo because they happen to like Nintendo? There's nothing wrong with that.

Especially because gaming is an expensive hobby. A lot of people don't have six-hundred bucks to drop on every brand new console out there, and that $30-60 price tag per game can be harsh on people who really want to play, but don't have the funds to buy a new game every month. Buying a series you know you're going to like is a much, much safer investment.

This is exactly it. Some game companies just have more titles relevant to a particular hypothetical gamer's interests.

That's why I stick to Nintendo most of the time; I've been happier with the selection of games offered to me than the stuff on other consoles/ by other companies. Although I want to play the MGS series like burning.

Same here! It's why I chose to get a Wii. I knew for certain there were series of games on it that I'd be happy with, even if other games out there interest me.

Ahaa, I know what you mean. It's killing me slowly that Fable II and III are only on the X-Box 360. Not to mention I want to play Dragon Age... auuugh!
