Because he's a fugly crybaby attention hog with a bullying storyline that isn't funny at all, his voice is annoying, he's mean to Rachel, makes Finn look bad yet gets treated like a saint, and he has no teeth.

I don't get the hate either. I find him adorable and even though I was a straight identified female in high school, I find his storyline totally relatable to so many things I went through.

Let's just put it this way: I flatout LOVE him.

The character or the actor?

Character: Because in Glee universe, he's forever the victim, despite that half of his problems (not including the bullying over his sexuality) were self-created. He's rude, manipulative, cruel, self-centered, yet somehow still portrayed as being saintly. And if you attempt to call him out on his very negative characteristics, Kurt-lovers will accuse you of being homophobic.

Actor: Because he basically flat out said that lesbian relationships aren't as serious as gay relationships and seems to revel in the fact that Troll Murphy basically worships him and takes his word as God, while simultaneously using none of that power to actually help the show become something better - or at least coherent.

I love Chris to death, but it's sort of impossible to love Kurt all the time because sometimes he's being awesome (finally standing up to Karofsky but not outing him even though he TOTALLY could've as revenge) and sometimes he's being a giant douche-b (telling Mercedes that she's substituting tater tots for love or whatever the fuck that was). He's written so inconsistently that it's hard to feel one way or the other about him all the time. And let's just say it: he's Murphy's author avatar, so he's going to be different in the episodes written by him, which is the most indulgent thing ever in the world. Sorry. Just sayin'.

I was going to say I get tired of having the character shoved down my throat (waaay too much screen-time devoted to his character), and that Kurt is immature and self-righteous. (THANK YOU for the reference to Mercedes and the fuckin tots. I was beginning to think I was the only one bothered by that huge steaming pile of plot WTF.)

However, I don't think it's been quite as bad since he left to go to another school. Or maybe I've just learned to ignore him? But I think his character actually acted pretty maturely in the valentine's day episode, and I don't think they've been focusing on him as much lately. So, yea!

I don't get it either, OP. This is why I choose comms very carefully.

I love both Kurt and Chris, I think they are adorable and awesome and I really don't get why people hate Kurt SO much.

I hate Kurt because it's like the show has a giant blind spot where he's concerned. Most characters lend themselves to being douchebags occasionally, but they ALL get called up on it by both other characters and the show itself, and there are actual consequences to their actions. The only person who's ever called up Kurt on his bullshit is Finn and the show makes it out like it's somehow Finn's fault when he, like everyone else, was trying to do what he thought was most right? (To be fair it's not like Finn was 100% correct in any of his Kurt confrontations, but at least he was trying.)

Well, Finn hasn't been called on a lot of his bs; cheating on Quinn with Rachel, not listening to Rachel when she told him she wasn't interested in dating him while she dated Jesse (hmmm... that sounds familiar, no means no right?), that he convinced Quinn to cheat on Sam with him while being a hypocrite, so...

If it's Kurt related BS (because no matter how inappropriate Kurt was acting, and he was), yeah he got called on it. Other than that...

I always thought it was less of a case of people hating him (since you used a BTS photo I’m assuming you mean the actor) and more that people just hate his overzealous fangirls, which just transfers over to hating him. Like you see the way they call them ‘Kurtsies’ or 'Kurt Stans.' You know, it just gets tiring when you go into fandom and have to constantly hear about him and how perfect he is even if you try to avoid that portion of fandom. I’m pretty sure its the exact same reason people say they hate slash. I honestly think most of those people don’t feel that strongly one way or another its just the fangirls that are everywhere that starts to piss people off.

Because he's a stereotype?

Like everyone else on the show?

Yeah, this secret really should have been put under not!secrets.
