Once again, it's understandable that you don't ship it personally, but with pairings like that one? It sounds more like you're being obtuse. Strong feelings (yes, including hate) = shipping.

If it annoys you to see a secret posted a shitload of times, why do you look at the repeat section?

Hate-love pairings seem to be insanely popular in most fandoms I've been in. I don't get it either.

Probably because people like the idea of two people who seem very different and hate each other realizing that the other isn't so bad and falling in love. I don't ship Zutara, but I don't think that the idea of overcoming initial feelings and growing to understand someone who's different from you is a bad thing at all, and it's why I ship the love-hate pairings that I do.

I don't understand the big hooplah with the ships in this fandom. It doesn't matter if the characters work or not, the fact that people find them compelling enough with each other to be in a relationship is enough.

Zuko/Aang doesn't get these questions, why should the Zuko/Katara shippers get this " Why do they ship it? They hate each other! "

Perhaps people like the idea of a relationship that goes beyond the black and white archetypes that plague adventure shows like this. Maybe people believe that that the foe yay can turn into something deep like love? Who knows? Who cares?

That's the thing, though: Aang doesn't hate Zuko. More than once throughout the first two seasons, Aang tries to befriend Zuko, something Katara never does. Even after Zuko turns good, Katara is the last one to finally forgive him and accept him as a friend. Aang is the first one to do so (Except maybe Toph, but she doesn't have the history with him the others do).

But Zuko hates Aang, so they are one and the same. There is no difference between the appeal of Zuko/Katara and Zuko/Aang. At the end of the day, its two enemies eventually coming together and two ships that go against established canon.

No, they're really not.

Think about "Western Air Temple". Think about how Katara was so adamant against the idea of Zuko joining the group and training Aang. If Aang had felt the same way, he would have rejected Zuko just as Katara had, that episode would have turned out completely differently, and odds are Zuko never would have joined them.

You're analyzing a ship from a cartoon series. At the end of the day its enemies becoming friends/lovers. Yes, we can go through all the episodes with a fine comb and find every instance that Aang wants to be friends with Zuko or when Katara gives Zuko a look... but at the end of the day, Aang spent 2 seasons running for his life from Zuko and Katara spent 2 and a half seasons running, accepting, then finally rejecting Zuko before becoming friends that depended on each other.

I ship Zutara but I'm not a fool to go around and discredit other ships or try to prove ships wrong. That is what my comment was about: There's no reason to discredit any other non-canon ships because its all in good fun.

Look someone--maybe you, I don't know--commented that Aang/Zuko doesn't get the same "but they hate each other!" criticism(s) Katara/Zuko does. I was explaining why I think that's the case.

What difference does it make? Why are you trying to make my comments sound as if I'm attacking whatever ship you may like? Which it seems it might be Aang/Zuko seeing how defensive you're getting about my comments.

I see your case, I don't think your case matters because none of it matters. It's a cartoon series that I don't understand, nor really care to understand, why people get all irate over someone's ship. Who cares if that person like's Katara/Sokka or Aunt Wu/Dragon or Meng/Toph... at the end of the day its all fun and games. It doesn't make a difference who, what or why these ships do or do not work.

Honestly, I like a lot of hate-love pairs. hell I've shipped them since childhood. But Zutara was one pair I never got... I just... it wasn't sexy.
