See? This is why I will *never* watch Firefly. Seriously, I've seen all the interviews with Fillon and follow him on Twitter, and I've never even felt that he hates Castle.

Seriously, Firefly is over. And as great as it was, why can't Nathan Fillon do something else and love it as much as he loved Firefly?

Um, people watch shows that are over all the time. That doesn't stop them from being good. :|

Obviously, I didn't explain myself right.

What I don't like about Firefly is it's zealot fans. The ones that insist that it was the best show ever, that no show can compare and thus, keep bringing it up all the time. And it's not only with NF, but with all the actors that were in Firefly, no matter what they star in. It gets tiresome. I can get missing a show, I miss a lot of shows, but to actively say that the actor must hate the new show he's working in, even when the evidence points to the contrary, it's a little bit too much.

Well, I love the show, but I have no interest in the fandom and don't participate in it, so pretty much all I see are people elsewhere bitching about Firefly fans.

Watching something doesn't mean you have to deal with the fandom. So I get your annoyance if you're actually running into zealots (though I don't know where that would be if you're not in the fandom), but it's a stupid reason not to watch something you think you'd like.

I was part of a Buffy fan club here in my country. And when Firefly started airing, every single one of the members became obsessed to the point of annoyance with the show (and with Joss Whedon, that was the worst part), and none of them understood why I didn't had a pressing interest on watching it. To this day, whenever I met one of the old members for any reason, it's always "Firefly this" and "Firefly that", which is the reason I left the club.

However, I guess it must be equally annoying to have everyone complain about the fans of the series in general when the zealots are just a vocal minority, so in the future, if I complain about Firefly fans I will clarify that I'm talking about the zealots.

(Also, I'm not a big fan of westerns, even if I like Sci-Fi, so I'm not sure if I would enjoy Firefly at all)

Oh, that DOES sound rather rage-inducing. I suppose I've not seen it because I was never in any Whedon fandoms. I've seen enough blind love/venomous outrage mentioned elsewhere -- people either seem to worship or vilify Whedon, sometimes in the same breath, and I find it puzzling at best and scary at worst.

For me, Firefly's appeal is way more about the characters than about the genre or mixture thereof. So, who knows. Maybe you'd like it, maybe not. :-)

In any event, swipe the YOU DAMN KIDS icon if you like it. Occasionally useful for these kinds of situations.

LOL, yes, the polarizing of Whedon is amazing. I keep telling my friends, "yes, I like Buffy. That doesn't mean I like Problem Child just because Whedon wrote it!" but then... well, this guys were the worst of the worst, even hating Dr. Horrible JUST because it wasn't Firefly. They seemed to like Dollhouse, last I knew -one of them works in my same company so I can't avoid him- but it's still "Not Firefly"

(To be honest, I watched Dr. Horrible. Didn't like it, but I don't rage against it. Just not my cup of tea)

I still smart on the bad memories, but who knows, I might watch Firefly someday. I hated Fillon in Buffy (Caleb was not his best role and that was not a good season anyway), but fell in love with him both in the horrid B-movie spoof Slither, and I can't have enough of him in Castle. It's just the annoyance at the fandom that keeps me away from renting it (Same with Supernatural, nothing turns me off faster from a series that a lot of people telling me that I must LOVE it)

I can totally understand how you feel about Firefly, and I LOVE the show. But it's just like how every douchey guy I dated in college had to tell me how Radiohead was, like, the ONLY good band. No. No, they aren't. They're brilliant, can't that be enough? There are plenty of other brilliant bands, I'm not going to listen to mope rock *all* the time. I always wanted to yell "You're making me hate them by trying to force me to love them!!!!" Oh, the drama! LOL!

I love everything Whedon does (haven't sat down and watched all of Dollhouse yet, I bet I'll get into it when I do), but even I never understood the CRAZY fandom for Firefly. And this from a person who has seen Serenity at least 50 times (literally). I guess I always felt like all of Whedon's stuff was brilliant, but very flawed at the same time, and I feel like Firefly was probably the most flawed between that, Buffy and Angel. I have some friends who loved Firefly but never watched Buffy or Angel. That always just surprised me because I NEVER would have given Firefly the time of day if not for being obsessed with the other two. *Shrug* different strokes for different folks.

PS this post is kinda off the OP's main point. But I just also want to say that Castle is no Firefly, but I think it's a great showcase for Fillion. Even though he was awesome in Firefly, I never realized just how charming he was until I saw Castle. Honestly, Castle (the show) is cute, but i seriously think he carries it, and in Firefly he wasn't *quite* such a stand out, because he had the unique / outstanding writing and the other amazing, charasmatic characters to compete with. (That's just my opinion. I thought Adam Baldwin was *too* good as Jane, and most people liked much Fillion better, I think.)
