Funnily enough, the authors left the fandom because they thought that the dub was ~offensive and called anyone who like it an "anti-intellectual anti-Semite"

yup! at first they liked the dub, then turned around on it, and ~departed from the fandom when shiny new inception called for attention. a while later, reflection on the relationship.
these discussions always make me want to point out that not all academia-steeped jewish hetalia fans are as loopy and vehement as these.
though i realise it's perhaps hard to believe if i phrase it that way ;p
